Why I Do What I Do

Marie Forleo once asked me (through her online course), “What’s the story behind your business?”  Before I could even think about my answer, I felt it.  So, I thought that I’d share my feelings and thoughts with you.

It has taken decades of arduous work, rigorous training, Herculean energy and effort, Amazonian fortitude, Promethean determination, and the proverbial blood, sweat, and (copious) tears to recognize that, despite what some may call “achievement,” I am still on my path (to greatness, I hope!).  I have come to the nascent realization that my mission is not only to be an amazing plastic surgeon but also to empower people through beauty.  The road for me has been full of adversity, disappointment, and self-doubt.  Yet, I believe I am coming into the full light of my purpose and am gaining deeper clarity into my higher calling.

The study of plastic surgery, for me, has been and continues to be the vehicle through which I serve others.  Additionally, it is the practice by which I have embraced an even more significant ideal—beauty.  I am not only a surgeon, but my role also encompasses that of an educator, supporter, advocate, activist, and coach.  With every purposeful cut or needle prick, I support you through the process of shifting that part of you that you wish to change.

I am moved by all that is beautiful, and the process of change can be lovely.  My passion is palpable for evolving into and through beauty.  My raison d’etre for helping to make the world a more beautiful place is personally compelling.  Whether through an aesthetic procedure or through the process of helping someone define his or her best version of him-/her-self, I am all in.  I am all about beauty in its various forms—photography, sculpture, nature, interior design, a brilliant mind, a fashionable frock, an infant’s smile, and of course, the human body, among other art forms.  Without beauty, we miss out on some of the best things in life, including the opportunity to be truly well.

The idea of wellness is not new, but the connection to beauty is still unacknowledged and fragmented.  Health is related to fashion, for example, which is evidently related to beauty.  They are all points along a continuum, represent an interconnected spectrum, and are intimately entangled in the same web of how we communicate who we are to the world.  My perspective is that beauty is an integral part of (health and) wellness; thus my approach and M.O. is wellness through beauty.   If beauty (or attractiveness) is what motivates you, then use it to become holistically well on as many levels as feasible.  Emanating beauty from the inside out is fundamentally attractive (and attracting).  When you may radiate beauty, joy, and gratitude from a place of self-care, self-approval, and self-love, then the possibilities for you to manifest a beautiful life are within reach.  I see myself as your guide to epic transformation and embodying this powerful being-ness.

Part of my purpose is to help you to do the work that deeply honors and respects your inner and outer beauty and to empower you to tap into your truth.  Connecting to your true sense of self is empowering.  Deeply investing in this beautiful work is liberating.  This is who I want to be in the world, and this is what I stand for.

So, how may I serve you to become a more beautiful person, inside and out?
