We're moving beyond health and wellness and now beginning to focus on longevity. After all, isn't one of the objectives of a dedicated wellness routine to live a long and Beautiful life?
There is a plethora of research that aims to determine some of the factors that may help us to live well beyond 100. After some exploration, I've concluded that there are ten general categories to consider in the quest to live long and prosper. I call these the "FAB Life 10:"
1. Clean nutrition: eat as well as your circumstances allow. If you need a guide or template, follow the Mediterranean diet, or try to adhere to eating two servings of fresh fruit and three servings of vegetables per day;
2. Proper exercise: engage in at least 30 minutes of cardio-boosting exercise daily. Add strength traiing and flexibility as your body's capabilities progress;
3. Manage stress: find ways to reduce the inflammation-inducing (and life-shortening) effects of micro-aggressions as well as overt stress;
4. Adequate sleep: get enough sleep based on your chronotype. Visit thepowerofwhen.com to determine your best sleeping hours;
5. Get out into nature: Being in nature has shown to help make you smarter, stronger, healthier, more productive, and happier. Read what the National Park Service has to say about it;
6. Have compassion: care for others;
7. Positivity: think positively about aging;
8. Live in the present: the past has passed; the future is not yet here. Worry about neither;
9. Practice gratitude;
10. Keep your mind stimulated: learn something new every day.
As always,
Stay Beautiful-- inside and out!
