Move your hyaluronic acid (HA), ceramides and niacinamide onto the next shelf and make room for some new top-shelf beauty ingredients that aim to moisturize, protect, and deliver radiant skin.  Here are some of the new players in the game.

Polyglutamic acid is a natural compound from a fermented Japanese soybean dish. It was historically used in wound healing, but it was discovered to have high water solubility and hydrating properties. It serves as a powerful humectant that attracts and retains more water in the skin than traditional HA's.

Your microbiome is at the core of your skin health.  The data continue to show that a healthy microbiome supports and is essential for radiant skin.  Expect to see more microbiome-friendly products from skincare products to oral supplements.

Plant-based beauty: Whether it is CBD, marine extracts, or other plant derivatives, skin care products will increasingly contain ingredients that aim to be natural, clean, and effective.  For example, marine collagen is being added to products to add skin protection against the damaging effects of blue-light.  Also, many plant-derived ingredients contain powerful antioxidants that reduce inflammation and ultimately may reduce visible signs of premature or advanced aging as wrinkles and discolorations.
